Our Story: From Overpacking to the 40L Carry-On

TravelStyleMate was born from a very real, very frustrating travel reality. Years ago, founder Kristina Mate was dragging heavy luggage across cobblestones in Europe, struggling with broken suitcase wheels, and dealing with blisters from shoes that looked great in the store but failed on hour three of sightseeing.

She decided there had to be a better way. Over the next 8 years, Kristina explored 35+ countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas—traveling almost exclusively with a single 40L carry-on bag. Along the way, she tested and refined minimalist capsule packing formulas, wrinkle-free fabric blends, and realistic transit logistics that actually hold up to real-world travel.

What began as detailed personal packing spreadsheets and shoe test logs evolved into TravelStyleMate: an independent, authentic resource built for travelers who refuse to choose between packing light and looking great.
